The hotel is actually Fairmont Banff spring, and in the world is widely known as Banff spring hotel as its located in Banff, Alberta province in Canada.

the hotel was opened in 1888 by Canadian Pacific railway, as Canada's railway hotels.

Hears where the story begins, about the suspected happenings and haunting of the now missing Room 873.

If you go looking for room 873, all you'll find is an outline of a doorway. Why is it blocked? 

Due to many strange occurrences, the room has been sealed away.

The first of this strange occurrence was quite tragic. A man and his family (daughter and wife) were taking a vacation at the Banff Spring Hotel. Their room was room 873. One night, the man brutally murdered his family.

Once the mess was cleaned up, the room reopened; leaving no trace except for little fingerprints (most likely the daughter's) on a mirror. Supposedly, no matter how many times washed, the fingerprints would always reappear. Some say to have encountered this girl's spirit.

Every guest that stayed in the room after had a paranormal stay. From strange dreams about being choked to unexplainable electrical problems, no one's vacation was peaceful. Therefore, the hotel bricked up the room, hoping to keep away any more fear. The rumor is told that guests would fall asleep in the room only to be awoken by hollow screams and when the lights were turned on they would be startled to find bloody handprints on the mirrors inside the room. By the time staff could rush to the room to investigate, the prints would have disappeared.

In efforts to cover up the horrific tale, it was decided the room would be sealed off. The door was removed and the opening covered with drywall, flush to match the rest of the hallway.

• Rooms’ ending in ’73’ on each floor and a room is located on the floor above and below the only missing ‘73’ on the 8th floor.
• If you head down the hallway, there are only lights above each doorway. There is one above where the missing room’s door would be, in the middle of the hallway.

• The baseboard is cut where the door would’ve been.

• When you knock along the walls, you’ll notice they are made of thick plaster… As you knock down the hall on the 8th floor it suddenly changes to a ‘hollow’ sound right below the light, where the door to room 873 would have existed… It continues for the length of a standard doorway.

So finally to avoid the situation Room 873 was combined to enlarge 875.
